Amazon Drops Price on Kindle. Now Just $189.00

Amazon has significantly dropped the price on their best selling kindle ebook reader, or e-reader which allows you to read and download book directly to it using it’s free wireless connection. You don’t pay any fee for the wireless service and the kindle books are much much cheaper due to the cost of distribution.
It costs much less money to make an e-book or ebook once and then distribute it electronically, than print, ship, store and sell physical books. There’s no retail or storage space needed with kindle ebooks and you can carry many books as they’re all digital books and no weight is required to ship these digital ebooks.
This price drop on the kindle, is in response to at least two relatively new competitors on the ebook market:
The Apple iPad is definitely a contender using it’s new again iBook brand as the name or term for digital books that is used by Apple. The trouble with the iPad is that at a price of at least $500 it’s a tad pricey still for those just wanting to read books with an e-reader.
Another competitor is from kobo books, with their new reader, its’ priced at even less than the the Amazon Kindle and it does one thing and one thing only: reads books. No wireless features or anything. With the kobo books e-reader you have to download the book to your computer first, and then upload the books to the reading device itself.
This is going to be the year of the e-reader with more competition for e-readers and more and more demand for them. The Kindle is a great e-reader at an even lower price due to more competition.
